Oh, I have so much to say about this chapter, but I'm afraid all of it would give away what is going to happen. For now, I'll just say that there will be lots of giggle worthy moments between Luta and Bryoak. ;D

OK, so I want to get back into my commentary on the comics and I'll be starting with this week's Yang Child pages.
First, I dislike doing shadows were the sun is mostly directly above the characters. There aren't near enough shadows and the characters end up looking flat.
Second, since I didn't comment before, I loved sketching this chapter's cover. Yay for romantic Bryoak and Luta. Originally I was going to have a chibi Luta and Bry getting looking embarrassed and angry about the image, but I ultimately didn't like them so I cut them from the picture.
That aside, I do like these next few pages setting everything up. This whole chapter is really the setup to the next chapter, but I'm sure you will be giggling by the end. These first few pages don't really give anything away just yet, but, as you can guess, Luta is being boxed in by everyone else. Melody is staying out of it, and rightfully so. She doesn't see herself as a part of the group really. She's just tagging along because there's safety in numbers. That'll change, of course, but for the moment, she doesn't care if they split into two groups or not.
Well, that's all on these pages. I'll post more next week.

On to another week of updates.
So, there isn't too much happening at the moment. The argument continues with Melody now inserting herself. She has her preferences too. Rika also sort of inserts himself for a brief moment, then he disappears like the others. I don't know where he went. I didn't even realize I'd forgotten to include him in the background again until after I started coloring it. They'll all be in the next update again.
Once again, the afternoon light means that there is not near enough shadows in my opinion. These were better than the last couple of pages, though. It helps when characters lean over enough to create shadows on them. Actually, when before drawing these, I planned on Luta being angrier and Bry being calmer. Somewhere along the way, they switched. Usually Luta is the one that over reacts. Just didn't work out this time. I'm sure it will shortly, especially after Melody adds more. Plus, she'll really blow up at Bry later. ;D

Way too long since I posted here. It's time to catch up.
So, since my last posting, the group has split up and we've discovered that whatever is happening in the next town, changing hair colors is the way to protect themselves from it. Unfortunately for Luta and Leanna, that blue is natural so they can't just wash some dye out like Bryoak can. Their problem: there's no other hair dye colors available. Good thing Xaina had an idea of where they can get some green.
Things I like about the last few pages: the shops. It's not always easy coming up with ideas for where people might get hair dye. Then there's the castle. This is the first major capital city they've been in, so it's the first time I've gotten to draw a castle of any sort. It's plain, but most things in the Churah province are. I also had fun with angles and they didn't turn out too bad for the most part.
Things I didn't like: Not much, actually. My only real trouble with these pages has been the afternoon shadows coming mostly from above. This means there isn't a whole lot of shadows in place and makes the characters look a bit flat. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with these pages.
So, before I go, who wants to see Luta with red or black hair? She actually would like pretty good with auburn hair. I did a mock up of her like that years ago and auburn was the best natural hair color for her.
